Location 

The KEYLESS-GO door handles are located on the outside of the respective door.

Structure 

The following component parts are integrated into the KEYLESS-GO door handles:

• Proximity switch (1)
• Near-field communication sensor (2) (driver's door only) (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone)
• Capacitive sensor on the inside of the door handle
• Capacitive sensor on the outside of the door handle
• Hall sensor

Task 

The component parts of the KEYLESS-GO door handles have the following tasks:

• The proximity switch (1) detects when the KEYLESS-GO door handle is touched (convenience closing request as long as contact with door handle exists).
• The near-field communication sensor (2) on the driver's door enables locking and unlocking via mobile phone (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone).
• The capacitive sensor on the inside of the door handle detects that a hand has reached into the KEYLESS-GO door handle (open vehicle request).
• The capacitive sensor on the outside of the door handle detects if someone touches the KEYLESS-GO door handle (lock vehicle request).
• The Hall sensor detects anyone tugging on the KEYLESS-GO door handle (emergency opening request after comfort closing).

The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) reads in the sensor signals.
