Routing diagram shown on left-hand drive vehicle with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) and CODE 810 (Sound system) 

The following operation steps describe installation in a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

1. Wrap felt tape around speaker branch-off line (a) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3).
2. With CODE 518 (Media Interface) or CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio) or CODE 537 (Digital radio) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

   Remove black, 2-pin connector for optical fiber (11) from black, 44-pin connector (7), and install in black, 44-pin connector (4).

3. Connect black 44-pin plug (6) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) to black 44-pin connector (7) of vehicle wiring harness.

   The black 44-pin connector (4) is connected at a later stage to the audio component.

4. Route Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) into device installation frame of audio component at bottom left.

   The size of the Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) hampers installation of the audio component. The audio component can only be installed if the Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) is as low down as possible in the rear area of the AAC control and operating unit.

5. Unclip speaker cover with long wedge and lift up.

   Avoid applying too much force on one side when levering.

   Otherwise the speaker cover and its catch hooks may be damaged.

6. Disconnect electrical connectors from underside of speaker cover.

   The number of electrical connectors is dependent on the vehicle equipment.

7. With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

   Clip in center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) or emergency call speaker (H4/48).

8. With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

   Remove blue 2-pin connector (8) from center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) or emergency call speaker (H4/48).

9. Route black 18-pin connector (5) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) into front passenger footwell.

   The black 18-pin connector (5) is connected to the Drive Kit plus control unit (1) at a later stage.

10. Route black 2-pin connector (9) and black 2-pin plug (10) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) to installation location of center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) or emergency call speaker (H4/48).

    Use a pull-through device.

11. With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Swap contact carrier of blue 2-pin connector (8) of vehicle wiring harness and contact carrier of black 2-pin connector (9) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness.

    To do so, remove contact springs for all lines from the blue 2-pin connector (8) and the black 2-pin connector (9), and install in the respective other one. New assignment of blue 2-pin connector (8): 

    Contact cavity 1 = Red/blue line (RD/BU)

    Contact cavity 2 = White/blue line (WH/BU)

    New assignment of black 2-pin connector (9): 

    Contact cavity 1 = Green line (GN)

    Contact cavity 2 = Green/black line (GN/BK)

    12.1 With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Connect black 2-pin plug (10) to black 2-pin connector (9).

    12.2 Without CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) and without CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) and without CODE 810 (Sound system) and without CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Strap down black 2-pin plug (10) and secure in device installation frame of center instrument panel speaker with felt tape.

    13.1 With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Connect blue 2-pin connector (8) to center instrument panel speaker or emergency call speaker.

    13.2 Without CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) and without CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) and without CODE 810 (Sound system) and without CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Connect blue 2-pin connector (8) to center instrument panel speaker included in scope of supply.

    14.1 With CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) or CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Clip in center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) or emergency call speaker (H4/48).

    14.2 Without CODE 348 (Emergency call/Assist system) and without CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) and without CODE 810 (Sound system) and without CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)

    Clip in center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) included in scope of supply.

12. Connect electrical connectors on underside of speaker cover.

    The number of electrical connectors is dependent on the vehicle equipment.

13. Clip in speaker cover.
