  Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Manually position windshield wiper system in reversing position    
2 Remove wiper blade from driver-side wiper arm (1) NOTES
When working on raised driver-side wiper arm (1), ensure that this does not fall onto the windshield.
Otherwise windshield will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Driver-side wiper arm (1) must not be moved.
 
3 Check driver-side wiper arm (1) IMPORTANT Model 217
Model 222
with code 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL, heated)
Distance between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D): approx. 45 mm.
IMPORTANT Model 166 as of 8/25/11
Model 292
Space between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D) is approx. 30 mm.
IMPORTANT Model 231
Space between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D) is approx. 50 mm.
 
4 Remove passenger-side wiper blade NOTES
When working on raised passenger side wiper arm (2), ensure that this does not fall onto the windshield.
Otherwise windshield will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Passenger-side wiper arm (2) must not be moved.
 
5 Check passenger-side wiper arm (2) IMPORTANT Model 217

The distance between the passenger-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (E) results from the specified distance between the driver-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (D).
IMPORTANT Model 166 as of 8/25/11, 292
Space between passenger-side wiper blade and A-pillar (E) is approx. 460 mm.
IMPORTANT Model 231
Space between passenger-side wiper blade and A-pillar (E) is approx. 600 mm.
 
CLEANING Clean     
6 Clean wiper blade fixtures on driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) using a clean cloth    
7 Cover driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) with appropriate means (scratch protection)    
8 Measure angle of incidence of driver-side wiper arm (1) to windshield, record and compare test value with adjustment value   AR82.30-P-6000-01LC 
IMPORTANT Notes on wiper arm adjustment   AH82.30-P-0001-01A
NOTES
When changing from reversing position to parked position, make sure that driver-side wiper arm (1) does not make direct contact with windshield.
Otherwise, the windshield may be scratched.
