1	Switch on COMAND
2	In the main function bar with COMAND controller, select "Navi" and confirm
3	Select "Map version" with COMAND controller and confirm; "Map version" is displayed	Depending on the COMAND software release, the menu item "Map version" may not be available. In this case ↓ Place master-DVD 1 into COMAND. The map data version installed in the COMAND and on the master DVD is displayed. Remove master DVD 1.
	Check
4	Note the map version displayed on service sheet and compare with the map version currently available	If map data version is up to date ↓ testing is complete; no further work steps are necessary. With map data release that is not up to date ↓ Proceed with operation step 5.
5	Check whether the customer is entitled to a free-of-charge map data update	Initial registration was max. 3 years ago. Only for certain markets (see appropriate Service Information bulletin). The customer is entitled to a free-of-charge map data update. ↓ Subject to a separate repair order, update the map data free of charge (for cost settlement, see Service Information bulletin). * Map update ↓ Service Information: Free map updates for COMAND The customer is not entitled to a free-of-charge map data update. ↓ Check with the customer whether map data should be updated subject to a charge. 6	Check whether the customer desires a chargeable map data update	The customer does not desire a chargeable map data update. ↓ testing is complete; no further work steps are necessary.
