REMOVING Remove     
1 Drain AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) using vehicle diagnosis system    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AD00.00-P-2000-04B
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AD00.00-P-2000-06LWO
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (at least 2 m)    
3 Remove front bumper Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR88.20-P-2000LW
    Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR88.20-P-2000LWE
4 Remove right front lamp unit Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR82.10-P-4730LW
    Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR82.10-P-4733LWO
5 Remove pressure line (2) from AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) and close off openings with suitable stop plugs SPECIAL TOOL Torque tool set Fig 4
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
6 Remove screw (3) and hang up right front body lateral acceleration sensor (B24/4) to one side with electric line still connected    
7 Unclip lines from line holders (4) on AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1)    
8 Remove screw (5) and remove AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) downwards    
INSTALLING Install     
9 Position AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) and tighten screw (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) Bolt, pressure reservoir to cross member BA32.22-P-1007-03H
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) Bolt, pressure reservoir to cross member *BA32.22-P-1008-03G 
10 Clip lines into line holders (4) on AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1)    
11 Position right front body lateral acceleration sensor (B24/4) and tighten screw (3)    
12 Remove all stop plugs    
13 Attach pressure line (2) to AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) NOTES The thread on the connection of the pressure line (2) and pressure line (2) may not be damaged.
Otherwise, leaks will occur.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) Pressure line to pressure reservoir/valve unit (SP) *BA32.22-P-1007-03G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) Pressure line to pressure reservoir/valve unit (SP) BA32.22-P-1008-03H
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque tool set Fig 4
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench
If thread on the pressure line (2) or pressure line (2) connection is damaged
↓
Repair connection of pressure line (2) or pressure line (2).		 Fig 1

14 Fill AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1) with compressed air using vehicle diagnosis system

REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AD00.00-P-2000-06LWO
INSPECT Check     
15 Read out and erase fault memory using the diagnostic system

REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AD00.00-P-2000-06LWO
16 Check AIR BODY CONTROL central reservoir (1), pressure line (2) and connection of pressure line (2) for leak tightness Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.22-P-8100LW 
    Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.22-P-8101LWO
INSTALLING Install     
17 Install right front lamp unit Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR82.10-P-4730LW
    Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR82.10-P-4733LWO
18 Install front bumper Model 253 (except 253.364/388/389/964/988/989) with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR88.20-P-2000LW
