DYNAMIC SELECT

The DYNAMIC SELECT function integrates essential vehicle systems that determine the driving experience.

Among other things, the characteristics of the accelerator pedal response, vehicle-speed dependent steering support, automatic transmission switch points and accelerator pedal curve are affected in vehicles with manual transmissions. In addition, the ECO start/stop function can be activated or deactivated in the "Individual" drive program. The following transmission modes are available:

The driver can choose between the different drive programs using the DYNAMIC SELECT switch (automatic transmission) or the DYNAMIC SELECT switch (N72/5s6) (manual transmission). The selected drive program is displayed as a symbol in the instrument cluster (A1). In addition, the current settings are briefly displayed in the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8). The head unit (A26/17) generates the presentation in the Audio/COMAND display and sends corresponding image data via the Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) line.

The left lower control panel (automatic transmission) or right lower control panel (N72/5) (manual transmission) directly reads in the signals of the DYNAMIC SELECT switch and transmits these to the ESP® control unit (N30/4) via the LCP-LIN (LIN A3), Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) (model 205 except code 446 (Touchpad only), model 253) or touchpad (A105) (model 205 with code 446 (Touchpad only)), telematics CAN (CAN A), head unit, user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and suspension FlexRay (Flex E).

The Electronic Stability Program control unit sends the information for the selected drive program to the relevant control units. These switch the stored parameters for the respective drive program. The pre-configured parameters are listed in the following table.

The ESP® OFF function is not an integral part of DYNAMIC SELECT.

Changing the drive program does not affect the setting.

If the vehicle is parked, the selected drive program is stored for up to 4 h (Last Mode). After 4 h, the comfort drive program is set automatically.

The Last Mode function is not supported in vehicles with code 494 (USA version).

Off-road programs (model 253 with code 430 (Off-road package))

The off-road menu in the Audio/COMAND display is called up by pressing the on-road/off-road menu button. The desired off-road program can then be selected using the Audio/COMAND controller. The selected off-road program is displayed as a symbol in the instrument cluster. The following off-road programs can be selected:

The off-road control panel directly reads in the status of the on/off-road menu button and transmits this to the ESP® control unit via the LCP-LIN, Audio/COMAND control panel, telematics CAN, head unit, user interface CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and suspension FlexRay. The Electronic Stability Program control unit sends the information for the selected drive program to the relevant control units.
