The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 205.2. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle.
- Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Cut out spot welds on lock striker bracket (2) (area C).
Only if C-pillar is not replaced.
- Drill out spot weld on lock striker bracket (2) with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area D).
Only if C-pillar is not replaced.
- Remove lock striker bracket (2).
Only if C-pillar is not replaced.

Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (areas E and G).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (areas F and G).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area E).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (areas H).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (areas I).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
