REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING

Number Designation Model 253
BA35.31-P-1004-02H Bolt, heat sink to end cover Nm 35

Measurement of angle 4 on rear axle differential (3)

IMPORTANT An angle that has already been measured can be measured a second time if required. Here, with the Measurement menu displayed, press the STEP button repeatedly until the display shows it is ready to measure the relevant angle.

  1. Model 205, 213, 253 with code 990 (AMG vehicles)

Unscrew screws/bolts from heat sink and remove heat sink.

    1. 2.1 On rear axle differentials (3) with contact surfaces (4).

Clean dirt as well as paint and sealant residue from contact surfaces (4) on housing of rear axle differential (3).

IMPORTANT Remove any unevenness on surface of material using a suitable tool.

    2. 2.2 On rear axle differentials (3) without contact surfaces (4).

Clean surfaces to the left and right of housing end cover of rear axle differential (3) free of contamination and paint and sealant residues.

    1. 3.1 On rear axle differentials (3) with contact surfaces (4).

Position sensor (020a) on contact surfaces (4) of housing of rear axle differential (3).

NOTES When each measurement is taken, the side of the sensor (020a) at which the spiral cable (020b) is connected must point in the direction of travel.

      False measurements can occur otherwise.

    2. 3.2 On rear axle differentials (3) without contact surfaces (4).

Position adaptation for universal rear axle differential (3) on suitable area and mount sensor (020a) onto adaptation for universal rear axle differential (3).

NOTES When each measurement is taken, the side of the sensor (020a) at which the spiral cable (020b) is connected must point in the direction of travel.

      False measurements can occur otherwise.
