1. Move ball joint to an easily accessible position.
2. Carefully clean seal bellows and surrounding area.
3. Insert test panel (5) between pitman arm and seal bellows, and push seal bellows back as far as possible in direction of ball joint.

   On vehicles with power steering system use test panel (5) 385 589 04 63 00.

4. Remove grease from exposed area of ball pin (4) and check condition of ball pin (4).

   If there is corrosion on the ball pin (4) or if the seal bellows is damaged, replace the ball joint subject to a separate repair order.

5. Clean contact surface of seal bellows on pitman arm; eliminate irregularities if necessary.
6. Apply long-life grease to ball pin (4).

7. Push back seal bellows until it fits on the pitman arm around the entire circumference.
