CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

  Risk of explosion  caused by escaping hydrogen or overheating of the fuel tanks when working on the hydrogen system. Risk of frostbite  to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching component parts carrying gas when emptying fuel tanks. Risk of asphyxiation  caused by inhalation of air diluted by hydrogen. Risk of burn injuries  by coming into contact with an invisible pale blue hydrogen flame.   AS00.00-Z-0030-01B
  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGREMOVING Remove/install     
1 Ensure that the requirements for driving into the workshop are fulfilled.

2 Print out "tank system, fuel cell, form event log," fill out, and attach to the vehicle somewhere clearly visible.    
REFER TO FORMS     OF00.00-P-3000-21RFW
3 Remove air spring.   AR32.22-P-1500RFW
4 Unscrew nut (4) and remove screw from torsion bar linkage out of spring link (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace nut (4) and screw from torsion bar linkage.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, torsion bar linkage to spring control arm *BA32.20-P-1003-04T 
5 Unscrew nut (3) and pull screw of shock absorber out of spring link (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace nut (3) and screw of shock absorber.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, shock absorber to spring control arm *BA32.25-P-1001-03P 
6 Unscrew nut and pull screw (5) out of spring link (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace screw (5) and accompanying nut.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spring control arm to wheel carrier *BA35.20-P-1002-01I 
7 Unscrew nut (2) and pull screw of spring link out of rear axle carrier (6). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace nut (2) and screw of spring link.
IMPORTANT Use SPECIAL TOOL the screwdriver bit, if a bolt with a multi-point socket is installed.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spring control arm to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-01I 
SPECIAL TOOL Screwdriver bit Fig 1
8 Remove spring link (1).    
INSPECT Check     
9 Check elastomer bearing (7) in rear axle carrier (6) for condition and damage. If problems exist,

Replace elastomer bearing (7).
 
10 Check supporting joint (9) in wheel carrier (8) for condition and damage. If problems exist,

Replace supporting joint (9).

11 Install in the reverse order.    
12 Perform chassis alignment.   AR40.20-P-0200LW
