	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

	Remove/install
1	Disconnect ground line from battery.	Model 238 with engine 642 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)	AR54.10-P-0003LWO

2	Remove steering coupling.	Model 238 with engine 642 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)	AR46.10-P-8000LWO

3	Remove left front engine mount.	Model 213, 238 with engine 642 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)	AR22.10-P-4330OLA

4	Remove front left engine carrier.	Bolt/nut, engine support to crankcase	*BA22.10-P-1001-02A
5	Remove screws at bracket (6) and place bracket (6) with connected line to one side.
6	Remove contact protection at circuit 30 electric line (3).
7	Remove circuit 30 electric line (3) at starter (M1).	Nut, connection for circuit 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01N
8	Remove electric line circuit 50 (2) from starter (M1).	Nut, connection for circuit 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01N
9	Remove bolts (5).	Screw/bolt, starter to cylinder crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01N
10	Remove starter (M1) downward.
11	Check pinion of the starter (M1) for wear and damage.	When reusing the starter (M1). If there is a problem, ↓ Replace starter (M1).
12	Remove charge air cooler and place to one side with attached coolant lines.		AR09.41-P-6817OGW
13	Turn engine at center bolt of crankshaft and check starter ring gear at flywheel/drive plate for wear and damage.	To do this rotate crankshaft in direction of engine rotation.
		Socket wrench bit If there is a problem, ↓ Replace flywheel/drive plate.	Fig 1

14	Install in the reverse order.
	Check
	Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.	Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.	AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
15	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Perform engine test run; in this connection, check starter (M1) for proper operation.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
