| Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Remove upper engine cover. | ||
| 2 | Remove charge air pipe upstream of the charge air cooler. | ||
| 3 | Release and disconnect electrical connector of the intake camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/1) or exhaust camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/2). | ||
| 4 | Remove screws (1) of the intake camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/1) or exhaust camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/2). | ||

| 5 | Remove intake camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/1) and exhaust camshaft adjustment solenoid (Y49/2). |

| 6 | Install in the reverse order. | ||

| 7 | Connect diagnostic device, read out fault memory, and delete. | ||
