| 5 | Turn engine at center bolt on crankshaft until the cams of the camshaft on the valve clearance compensating element to be checked point upwards | Do not turn engine against direction of engine rotation. Otherwise engine damage can occur. If the roller-type cam follower (1) does not touch the cam. ↓ Replace valve clearance compensating element. |

| 6 | Compress valve clearance compensating element; to do this depress the roller-type cam follower (1) using a suitable drift (01) | Do not use a steel tool. The surface will be damaged otherwise. |

If the valve clearance compensating element drops too strongly. ↓ Replace valve clearance compensating element. If a number of valve clearance compensating elements are defective. ↓ Check compress oil supply of cylinder head. |
