Install Rear End - Ar64.20-P-1020-06CLW

Model 205.3 

Modification notes 

14.01.2016 Polygrip Ø 6.4X14 countersunk-head rivet replaced by Ø 6.4x14.0 blind countersunk-head rivet. Operation step 19

  1. Install rear end assembly (1) and fit.
  2. Install trunk lid seal.
  3. Install striker eye.
  4. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  5. Fix rear end assembly (1) in place.
  6. Remove trunk lid seal.
  7. Remove striker eye.
  8. Drill rivet holes on rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas A, B, D and G).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through present holes in body (areas B and D).

    IMPORTANT Drill through spare wheel well and then drill out with Ø 10 mm bit (areas G).

  9. Countersink rivet holes (areas A and B).
  10. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in rear end assembly (1) through present holes in body (areas C).
  11. Remove rear end (1).
  12. Deburr rivet holes on rear end assembly (1) and body on both sides.
  13. Remove drilling chips.
  14. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

  15. Apply window glue to mating surface on spare wheel well to rear end assembly (area E).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  16. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for curing and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

    IMPORTANT The operation step 17 is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side of the vehicle.

  17. Apply 2-component adhesive to inside of body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Some of the 2-component adhesive is wiped off in this area when the rear end assembly is installed; it is necessary to compensate for this by applying an additional amount. Apply 2-component adhesive to new part.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for curing and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  18. Install rear end assembly (1) and fix in place.
  19. Rivet rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 blind countersunk-head rivets (areas K and L).
  20. Rivet rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (areas J and H).
  21. Rear end assembly (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas M).

    IMPORTANT The following steps 22 to 23 are shown on the right side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the left side of the vehicle.

  22. Rivet rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (areas P).
  23. Rear end assembly (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas Q).
