IMPORTANT Notes on automatic transmission   AH27.19-P-0001-01NKB
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open engine hood    
2 Remove engine cover    
3 Remove right engine air intake duct upstream of left air filter    
4 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100CW
5 Detach oil lines (1) from oil cooler IMPORTANT Seal using suitable SPECIAL TOOL stop plugs. AR27.10-P-0501-03LF

6 Remove underfloor paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LF
7 Detach oil lines (1) from transmission IMPORTANT Seal using suitable SPECIAL TOOL stop plugs. AR27.10-P-0501-03LF

8 Fix steering wheel in center position with holding device SPECIAL TOOL Retainer device Fig 3
9 Detach steering coupling from rack-and-pinion steering Model 217 with engine 278 with transmission 725.0
Model 222 as of 4/30/14 with engine 276 with transmission 725.0

    SPECIAL TOOL Engine mount wrench set Fig 4
10 Lower rack-and-pinion steering IMPORTANT Support the rack-and-pinion steering and secure it to prevent it from falling down.
IMPORTANT Only lower the rack-and-pinion steering until the tie rods are parallel to the rack-and-pinion steering.

11 Remove screws/bolts (2, 3) and bracket    
12 Twist oil lines (1) and remove in downward direction NOTES
Do not kink or bend the oil lines (1). Otherwise leaks may occur.
 
13 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
14 Check oil level in transmission; correct if necessary Transmission 725.0 in model 217, 222 with engine 278
as of model year 2015

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform engine test run and check transmission for proper function and leaktightness.
