Cleaning of sealing surfaces 

When cleaning, make sure that no dirt particles remain on the sealing surfaces.

Even minute dirt particles in the hydraulic components can impair operation of the transmission and result in total failure or damage.

Wipe off oil and other soiling from sealing surfaces using a lint-free rag.

Spray Loctite 7200 onto sealing surfaces and leave to work for approx. 10 to 20 min.

Observe manufacturer's processing instructions!

Remove detached sealant using a plastic scraper from sealing surfaces working from inside to outside and wipe clean with a rag.

The sealing surfaces must feel even after treatment. The sealing surfaces do not have to be metallic bright; a thin layer of firmly adhering sealant can remain.

Do not use sharp-edged metallic tools or abrasive paper.

The sealing surface will be damaged otherwise.

Threaded holes and holes in Transmission housing 

Recut the threaded holes using a thread tap. Threaded holes must be free of old thread locking compound, other foreign objects and dirt.

The threaded holes will otherwise crack when the bolts are screwed in. The Transmission housing will be irreparably damaged and the complete Transmission will have to be replaced. 

Holes must be free of sealant residue, other foreign objects and any dirt. Otherwise, the holes will crack when the bolts are screwed in. The Transmission housing will be irreparably damaged and the complete Transmission will have to be replaced. 

Clean sealing surface of intermediate plate/gear set housing 

1. Remove O-rings (1, 2) from bevel gear and oil return.
2. Fit stop plugs to holes (3, 2 each) into gear set compartment.
3. Drain oil.
4. Clean surface of intermediate plate.

   Suction off dirt particles. Do not use compressed air.

5. Recut threaded holes on sealing surface (5) using thread tap in order to remove dirt particles and all residue of old thread locking compound.
6. Clean all the holes on the sealing surface (5).
7. Clean sealing surface (5) of gear set housing.

8. Remove stop plugs from holes (3, 2 each) to gear set compartment.

   Do not forget the stop plugs.

   Otherwise, oil circulation cannot be guaranteed and this will impair transmission operation.

9. Clean sealing surfaces.

   The sealing surfaces (on the clutch housing and gear set housing) must be cleaned with the differential housing (6) in a horizontal position.

   Otherwise old sealant will drop into the inside of the differential housing (6), clog up hydraulic channels thereby impairing operation of the transmission.

10. Seal holes (7).
11. Clean sealing surface (8) of differential housing (6) to gear set housing.
12. Clean all bores on sealing surface (8).
13. Recut threaded holes using thread tap in order to remove dirt particles and all residue of old thread locking compound.

14. Seal hydraulic holes (9) with stop plugs.
15. Clean sealing surface (10) of differential housing (6) to clutch housing.
16. Clean all bores on sealing surface (10).
17. Recut threaded holes using thread tap in order to remove dirt particles and all residue of old thread locking compound.
18. Remove stop plugs from hydraulic holes (9).

    Do not forget the stop plugs.

    Otherwise, oil circulation cannot be guaranteed and this will impair transmission operation.

    Clean sealing surface (11) of clutch housing 

19. Clean sealing surface (11) of clutch housing to differential housing (6).
20. Clean all bores on sealing surface (11).
21. Recut threaded holes using thread tap in order to remove dirt particles and all residue of old thread locking compound.
