Location
The adaptive damping system control unit is located in the center of the transmission tunnel.
Tasks
The adaptive damping system control unit does the following:
- Reading in of signals
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4)
- Right rear body acceleration sensor (B24/6)
- Left front wheel acceleration sensor (B24/10)
- Right front wheel acceleration sensor (B24/11)
Chassis CAN 1
The following signals are read in over chassis CAN 1:
- Wheel speeds from the ESP® control unit (N30/4)
- Turn rate, lateral and longitudinal acceleration from the ESP® control unit
- Brake pressure from Electronic Stability Program control unit
- Drivetrain operational status from the powertrain control unit (N127)
- AMG suspension button status AMG (S193/2) from the AMG gateway control unit (N93/9)
- Steering wheel angle from the steering column tube module control unit (N80) (up to 30.11.2018)
- Steering wheel angle from the AMG gateway control unit (as of 01.12.2018)
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line

- Left front axle damping valve unit (Y51)
- Right front axle damping valve unit (Y52)
- Left rear axle damping valve unit (Y53)
- Right rear axle damping valve unit (Y54)
