Supplemental Restraint System Control Unit, Component Description - GF91.60-P-4080RR
Model 190
Location
The supplemental restraint system control unit is located under the center console.
Tasks
The supplemental restraint system control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Transmitting signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Seat occupied recognition LIN (LIN E2)
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1)
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in via direct lines:
- Left side airbag sensor (A53)
- Right side airbag sensor (A54)
- Left frontal acceleration sensor (B48/1)
- Right frontal acceleration sensor (B48/2)
- Left door pressure sensor (B48/7)
- Right door pressure sensor (B48/8)
- Driver belt buckle restraint system switch (S68/3)
- Front passenger belt buckle restraint system switch (S68/4)
Seat occupied recognition LIN
The supplemental restraint system control unit reads in information on the seat occupancy recognition from the following components over seat occupancy LIN:
- Front passenger seat occupied recognition and ACSR [AKSE] (B48) (with CODE U18 (Automatic child seat recognition, ACSR [AKSE]))
- Weight sensing system (WSS) control unit (N110) (with CODE U10 (Automatic front passenger airbag shutoff))
Chassis CAN 1
The supplemental restraint system control unit reads in the following signals via chassis CAN 1, for example:
- Status of doors
- Status of the central locking (CL [ZV])
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Pyrofuse 150 (F32f150)
- Driver emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/1) (with CODE 494 (USA version))
- Front passenger emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/2) (with CODE 494 (USA version))
- Front passenger airbag squib 1 (R12/4)
- Front passenger airbag squib 2 (R12/5)
- Driver side airbag squib (R12/9)
- Front passenger side airbag squib (R12/10)
- Driver airbag squib 1 (R12/13)
- Driver airbag squib 2 (R12/14)
- Front passenger knee airbag squib (R12/24)
- Driver knee airbag squib (R12/25)
- Left head airbag squib (R12/39)
- Right head airbag squib (R12/40)
- Inerting system squib (R12/69) (with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant))
- Drive buckle ETR squib (R46)
- Front passenger emergency tensioning retractor squib (R46/1)
- Analog crash output to ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)
- Digital crash output to emergency call system control unit (N123/4) (with code 348 (Emergency call/Assist system))
- Driver seat NECK-PRO head restraint solenoid (Y24/12) (except CODE 555 (AMG performance seats))
- Front passenger seat NECK-PRO head restraint solenoid (Y24/13) (except CODE 555 (AMG performance seats))
Transmitting signals
The supplemental restraint system control unit transmits the following signals via chassis CAN 1, for example:
- Crash signal
- Display messages request
- Driver belt buckle restraint system switch status
- Front passenger belt buckle restraint system switch status
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
