Location
The parking system control unit is located on the partition behind the front passenger seat.
Tasks
The parking system control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Output of signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line
- AMG FlexRay (Flex AMG)
Direct line
The signals from the following component parts are read in via direct lines (only with code 220 (PARKTRONIC system (PTS)):
- Outer left front parking system distance sensor (B8/1)
- Center left front parking system distance sensor (B8/2)
- Inner left front parking system distance sensor (B8/3)
- Inner right front parking system distance sensor (B8/4)
- Center right front parking system distance sensor (B8/5)
- Outer right front parking system distance sensor (B8/6)
- Outer right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/7)
- Inner right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/8)
- Inner left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/9)
- Outer left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/10)
LVDS line
The picture data of the following components are read in via a low voltage differential signaling line in each case:
- Reversing camera (B84/3) (with CODE 218 (Reversing camera))
- Front camera (B84/9) (with code 203 (Front camera))
AMG FlexRay
The parking system control unit reads in the following information, among other information, via the AMG FlexRay:
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Engine running or drive train operational
- Wheel speed and wheel rotation direction
- Vehicle speed
- Status of parking brake
- Gear range "R" engaged
- Ambient brightness
- Status of parking system button (N72/1s8)
- Status of front camera button (N72/1s65)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The parking system control unit actuates the parking system distance sensors via direct lines.
Output of signals
The parking system control unit sends the following information or requests, among others, via the AMG FlexRay:
- Request to display messages or issue a warning tone
- Information on distance to obstacle
The parking system control unit sends the image data to the head unit (A26/17) over an HSVL line (high speed video link).
