General
The emergency override system control unit (1) controls the emergency override system (EOSys) and can be activated as a preventive measure and in the event of a fault. When activated, the emergency override system control unit (1) ensures engine running even if there is severe damage to the drive system, up to mechanical failure.
Function
The emergency override system can be activated using a tamper-proof switch (emergency override system button) in the center switch panel.
The emergency override system control unit (1) is integrated in the drivetrain between the drivetrain control unit and the following control units:
- Engine management control unit
- Fuel pump control unit
- Fully integrated transmission control electric controller unit
When activated, the emergency override system control unit (1) reads in predefined signals that could have a critical impact on engine running (e.g. overheating or lack of lubricant) and may lead to operational restrictions. If a critical signal is detected by the emergency override system control unit (1), this signal is edited and forwarded accordingly so that continued driving can be guaranteed even with the risk of potential damage to the drivetrain.
