Driver assistance system, general
The driver assistance systems support the driver in various situations either actively or passively depending on the configuration of the systems. In both cases, the driver assistance systems contribute to driving safety. This helps to reduce the frequency of accidents and their consequences. Ride comfort is also enhanced.

Attention assistance system
The attention assistance system is integrated in the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4). By evaluating steering patterns any onset of driver fatigue (e.g. on long monotonous journeys on freeways and highways) can be detected. If the evaluation indicates fatigue or an increasing lack of attention by the driver, the driver is prompted to take a break by means of visual and acoustic warnings.
Cruise control
The cruise control constantly adjusts the actual speed of the vehicle without operation of the accelerator pedal to the target speed set by the driver. The vehicle is also automatically braked through active intervention by the brake system when driving down a hill to maintain the target speed.
Lane Keeping Assist (with CODE 22P (Lane package))
The Lane Keeping Assist detects any unintentional driving across lane markings and issues a haptic warning to the driver in certain situations by initiating vibrations on the steering wheel.
COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST (with CODE 258 (COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST))
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS continuously checks the safe distance to the vehicle immediately in front, warns the driver optically and acoustically of potential collisions (e.g. rear-end collision) with other vehicles, thereby significantly reducing the risk of accident considerably. In an imminent collision situation, the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS initiates autonomous partial braking.
DISTRONIC PLUS (with CODE 239 (DISTRONIC PLUS))
To match driver requests, DISTRONIC PLUS automatically regulates the speed and distance to the vehicle in front in a vehicle speed range of v = 0 to 200 km/h.
Blind Spot Assist (with CODE 22P (Lane package))
The Blind Spot Assist monitors the rear and side areas of the vehicle using short range radar and, if necessary, informs the driver that an intentional lane change (turn signal light active) is not recommended at this time. In a broader sense, Blind Spot Assist acts as an extension of the inside rear-view mirror.
Traffic Sign Assist (with CODE 513 (Traffic Sign Assist))
A camera on the inside of the windshield detects the sign posted speed limits, e.g. at the edge of the road, on overhead signs or at construction sites. The data from the camera is compared with the information of the navigation system and displayed both in the instrument cluster and in the map view of the navigation system. "No passing" zones and the associated derestriction signs are also recorded and displayed. In the case of restricted access with corresponding signage, a visual and acoustic warning is additionally output by the instrument cluster (A1) and the instrument cluster speaker (H4/61).
