Location
The Audio/COMAND control panel and ON/OFF button with volume adjustment (up to 30.11.2018) are located on the center console.
Tasks
The Audio/COMAND control panel is the central control for the telematics functions. With the Audio/COMAND control panel, the functions that can be displayed on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) can be operated. In the process, the Audio/COMAND control panel performs the following tasks individually:
- Reception of the power supply of terminal 30g and terminal 31 via a direct line
- As of 01.12.2018: Reception of right lower control panel operation signals (N72/5) from Drive Unit control unit (N145/1) via audio LIN (LIN A4)
- Up to 30.11.2018: Reception of operation signals from ON/OFF button with volume adjustment via audio LIN
- Reception of CAN messages via telematics CAN (CAN A)
- Conversion of the mechanical control movements into electrical control signals
- Forwarding of received and own generated operation signals to head unit (A26/17) via telematics CAN
The head unit can be switched on and off and the volume for media sources and voice output adjusted using the ON/OFF button with volume adjustment (up to 30.11.2018).
The ON/OFF button with volume adjustment (up to 30.11.2018) specifically fulfills the following tasks:
- Reception of the control signals from the ECO start/stop function button (S193/5)
- Conversion of the mechanical control movements into electrical control signals
- Transmission of the individual control signals via audio LIN to the Audio/COMAND control panel
- Transmission of the control signals from the ECO start/stop function button via audio LIN to the Audio/COMAND control panel
