Location

The AMG gateway control unit is located on the driver side, under the instrument panel.

Tasks

The AMG gateway control unit comprises the interface of the following CAN buses:

Drive program settings

The various settings of the drive programs are controlled by the AMG gateway control unit. The following drive programs can be selected using the drive program rotary switch (S192):

Rear spoiler control (except Model 190.381/379)

The AMG gateway control unit controls the rear spoiler functions.

The rear spoiler motor (M71) is actuated by the AMG gateway control unit via the rear spoiler motor relay (K115/1) until rear spoiler limit switch 1 (M71s1) reports the end position of the rear spoiler.

Rear spoiler control (Model 190.381)

The AMG gateway control unit controls the rear spoiler functions.

The actuators on the movable wing element (left and right) on the rear spoiler are actuated by the AMG gateway control unit via the rear spoiler motor relay until the rear spoiler limit switch reports the end position of the wing. The wing is actuated as follows in the various drive programs:

IMPORTANT Dynamic actuation: In order to maximize downthrust in certain driving situations, e.g. cornering or when braking, a dynamic range in which the wing element is actuated based on the control strategy according to the given situation is stored in the various drive programs.

Underbody spoiler control (Model 190.379)

An active underbody spoiler is installed in the front underfloor area on Model 190.379 vehicles. It is extended and retracted automatically by the AMG gateway control unit via the front spoiler underfloor drive unit actuator motor relay block (K115/2) in a speed range which is predefined according to the selected drive program. When the vehicle is stationary, the underbody spoiler can be extended using the underbody spoiler button (N72/1s64).

If the underbody spoiler has been extended while the vehicle was stationary, it is retracted automatically when "gear range D" is engaged. Production and transport mode automatically retracts the underbody spoiler and prevents any harmful extension during the production or shipping of the vehicle.

Any mechanical blockage is detected by the underbody spoiler motor unit current sensor (M16/65b1) via the power consumption of the underbody spoiler motor unit actuator motor (M16/65m1). In the event of a fault, the actuation is aborted for this ignition cycle, an appropriate message appears in the instrument cluster (A1) and a fault code is logged in the fault memory of the AMG gateway control unit.

The underbody spoiler is a modular design and consists of the following electronic components in addition to the mechanical components manufactured from fiber composite (carbon):

Connected buttons

The positions of buttons connected to the AMG gateway control unit are read in by the AMG gateway control unit directly or via the AMG DRIVE UNIT LIN (LIN B11), digitally processed and transmitted to suspension CAN 1 and the drive CAN.

Memory

The AMG gateway control unit has memory functions to save states (e.g. settings). In addition, the AMG gateway control unit is equipped with an internal fault memory.

Input and output signals

The following input signals are evaluated by the AMG gateway control unit and the corresponding output signals issued:
