Service Information: SAM Control Unit Diagnosis Procedure - SI54.21-P-0034A
Model all
Due to recent events, please remember that since DVD 11/2010, diagnosis of the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) has been revised along with the inspection process.
When performing diagnosis, proceed as follows:
- Perform quick test.
- Perform guided test for the relevant SAM control unit.
A fault code or symptom can be used to enter the test.
- A guided diagnosis is then conducted.
If at the end of each test step the SAM control unit is deemed to be defective, the SAM control unit should be replaced.
The control unit log is to then be submitted along with the defective control unit through the warranty channels.
This control unit log must be printed out using the same diagnostic unit that was used to perform the guided test.
The warranty inspection checks if the diagnosis result confirms that a replacement of the SAM control unit is justified. If this is not the case, or if the diagnosis printouts are not available, the warranty claim may be rejected. The same applies when the requested parts are not demonstrably forwarded to the inspection station.
