IMPORTANT Since Model year 2011 all passenger car variants (diesel and gasoline) no longer calculate the consumption figures (trip data) in the instrument cluster, but rather in the engine control unit (ECU).

The consequence of this is that after every software update of the ECU, the data have to be synchronized between the ECU and the instrument cluster. If the data are inconsistent, the instrument shows bars only. This can lead to irritation in the workshop and - in several instances - to customer complaints.

IMPORTANT After a software update of the ECU the trip computer must always be reset (menu items "After start"  and "After reset"  ) using the steering wheel buttons.

This is necessary to ensure that the travel data sent by the instrument cluster are synchronized with the ECU.

If this step is not performed, implausible consumption data (l/100 km) can be issued.
