The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage, these steps must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.
- Scribe separation point on side roof paneling (1) (area A).
Measure dimension (a) of rear roof frame connecting joint, dimension (b) of recess in window cutout (see enlarged detail in picture).
- Cut side roof paneling (1) at separation point (area A).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Expose weld seams of side roof paneling (1) on A-pillar and cut off (areas B and C).
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Expose self-pierce rivets of side roof paneling (1) and unrivet with rivet press tool (areas E and F).
- Expose self-pierce rivets of side roof paneling (1) and cut off (areas D and G).
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Heat side roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas with heat gun.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove damaged side roof paneling (1).
Carefully remove side roof paneling (1) in area (H). Front roof frame will otherwise be damaged.
- Level mating surfaces on body in cross-hatched areas and grind down to bare metal.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and weld joints.
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
