The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Heat self-tapping fillister head screw (5) and front crossmember support (4) with heat gun and remove.
Self-tapping fillister head screws are bonded and must be heated.
- Expose weld seams on front crossmember support (4) and cut (areas G, H, I).
- Heat front crossmember support (4) in area of bolts (5) with heat gun.
Areas of bolts are bonded and must be heated.
- Remove damaged front crossmember support (4).
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Scribe separation point on longitudinal member front section (1) all the way around (area A).
Measure dimension (a) from edge of front wheel well.
- Separate longitudinal member front section (1) at separation point (area A) all the way around.
- Remove damaged longitudinal member front section (1).
- Deburr separating point (area A) on body.
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
