General 

The HOLD function holds the vehicle stationary without the driver having to operate the brake. The function assists the driver during waiting times in traffic.

Function requirements 

• Engine in operation or switched off using ECO start/stop function.
• Drivetrain operational.
• Brake and traction system functional.
• Vehicle stops.
• Seat belt fastened or driver's door closed.
• Distance control inactive.
• With automatic transmission: Transmission is in position "D", "R" or "N".
• With manual transmission: Transmission is in position "N".
• Electric parking brake released.
• No deactivation in standstill control (SSC).
• Vehicle not sliding.

Function 

Hold vehicle 

The HOLD function is switched on if after a short time the driver fully depresses the depressed brake pedal until the "HOLD" message appears in the instrument cluster.

When, after the vehicle has stopped, the driver releases the brake pedal, an incline-dependent hold pressure is set and maintained.

Release vehicle 

When starting off, the holding pressure is reduced by the standstill control depending on the respective situation.

The HOLD function is switched off automatically in the following cases:

• Accelerator pedal is operated (except when transmission is in "N" position).
• With automatic transmission: Selector lever in "P" position.
• Brake pedal is depressed again until the "HOLD" message disappears in the instrument cluster.
• Electric parking brake is applied.
• Distance control is activated.
• Brake pedal is depressed and the vehicle is sliding.
