Adaptive Brake Lights Flashing, Basic Function - GF42.47-P-1012A

Overview 

This document contains information on:

General 

The adaptive brake lights warn traffic following behind in an emergency braking situation by rapid flashing of the brake lamp units and activation of the hazard warning light system.

Function requirements 

Function 

The following lamp units are actuated for at least 1 s and with a flashing frequency of 5 Hz:

If the vehicle comes to a standstill from a speed of > 50 km/h to 70 km/h, the brake lights and the brake lamp are permanently actuated.

If the vehicle comes to a standstill from a speed of > 70 km/h, the brake lights and the brake lamp are permanently actuated. The hazard warning lights are also automatically activated.

If the vehicle then exceeds a speed of 10 km/h, the hazard warning lights are automatically switched off.
