IMPORTANT Further information can be found in the superordinate service document. Comply with safety information in superordinate customer service document.

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on both body components. In principle, this repair can take place completely or in part. Standard joints and adhesive joints should be used. Replace flow drill bolts, self-tapping fillister head bolts, and self-pierce rivets installed in the vehicle by high-strength rivets according to clamping range.

  1. Install left rear floor connecting part (1a) and right rear floor connecting part (1b), fit and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes in left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rearend floor connecting part (1b) with ø 6.7 mm (areas D3, D4 and C1).

IMPORTANT Transfer holes present in vehicle for flow drill bolts and selftapping fillister head bolts to the new parts. In the case of new part to new part connections, adapt these and drill together.

  3. Drill rivet holes in left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rearend floor connecting part (1b) with ø 6.7 mm (areas A1 and B1).

IMPORTANT Transfer present positions for rivet connections from vehicle to new part. In the case of new part to new part connections, adapt these and prepare together.

  4. Remove left rear floor connecting part (1a) and right rear floor connecting part (1b).
  5. Deburr rivet holes at left rear-end floor connecting part (1a), right rear-end floor connecting part (1b) and at body on both sides (areas A1 and B1).

IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  6. Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.

  7. On left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rear-end floor connecting part (1b), apply the 2-component adhesive (crosshatched areas).

IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's specification for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  8. Install left rear floor connecting part (1a) and right rear floor connecting part (1b), fit and fix in place.
  9. Rivet left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rear-end floor connecting part (1b) with rivet press tool and blind rivets or blind rivets (areas A2, B2, C2 D5, and D6).

IMPORTANT Use blind rivet 6.5x12.5 (Klemmbereich 2 mm up to 5 mm, dra w-off strength min. 19 kN) or blind rivet 6.5x14.5 (Klemmbereich 4 mm up to 7 mm, dra w-off strength min. 19 kN).

  10. Tack weld left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rearend floor connecting part (1b) with welder (SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD ) (areas E3 and E4).

IMPORTANT When MIG welding (SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD ) prepare welds by grinding down to bare metal with stainless steel brush. Weld seams must  be tack welded at start, end and every approx. 4 cm.

  11. Check weld seam gaps.

IMPORTANT Check all weld seam gaps before start of welding. The weld seam gap may not be greater than 1 mm, where required use a body weld.

  12. Weld left rear-end floor connecting part (1a) and right rear-end floor connecting part (1b) with welder (SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD ) (areas E3 and E4).

IMPORTANT When MIG welding (SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD ), prepare welds by grinding down to bare metal with stainless steel brush directly before welding. Tack weld seams at start, end and approx. every 4 cm. Weld seam gap should not be greater than 1 mm; if required, create a pre-seam.
