Location
The telephone control unit is installed in the glove compartment.
Tasks
The telephone control unit has the following tasks:
- Receives the wake-up signal via the telematics CAN (CAN A) from the head unit (A26/17)
- Communication with head unit via telematics CAN (e.g. status of SIM card (Subscriber Identification Module), operation signals)
- Wi-Fi communication (e.g. internet configuration, internet data, settings) with head unit via Wi-Fi antenna (A2/83)
- Bluetooth® communication with head unit via Bluetooth® antenna (A2/91), e.g. with the following Bluetooth® profiles:
- HFP (Hands-Free Profile)
- MAP (Message Access Profile)
- PBAP (Phonebook Access Profile)
- SPP (Serial Port Profile)
- Bluetooth® communication with a mobile phone (e.g. SAP (SIM Access Profile))
- Communication with mobile phone network via telephone antenna splitter (A2/109)
- If the telephone control unit is selected as the Wi-Fi hotspot: provision of Internet connection for external guests
Structure
The telephone control unit has the following components:

- Interface for Bluetooth®
- Card reader for SIM card
