COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST Controller Unit, Component Description - GF30.30-P-3214RR
Model 190
with code 258 (COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST)
Shown up to 30.11.2018
Shown as of 01.12.2018
Location
Up to 30.11.2018
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit is located in the direction of travel at the rear right to the front bumper.
As of 01.12.2018
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit is located centrally in front of the cooler.
Task
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit detects obstacles and vehicles ahead and warns the driver about a possible collision.
If the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit detects a risk of a collision, the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit initiates automatic partial braking.
This means that the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit has the following individual tasks:
- Reading in input factors
- Evaluation of input factors
- Sending signals
Reading in input factors
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit receives the following input factors, among other things, via chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1):
- Engine running or drivetrain operational
- Wheel speeds and wheel rotation direction
- Acceleration/yaw rate
- Driving stage engaged
- Steering wheel angle
- Accelerator pedal position
- Brake pedal position
- Switch position of combination switch (S4)
- Driver request via system settings
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued.
Sending signals
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit also transmits the following initial parameters via chassis CAN 1:
- Requests to output optical and acoustic warning messages in instrument cluster
- Request to initiate PRE-SAFE® measures (with code 299 (PRE-SAFE® system))
- Request to increase the braking torque
- Request for torque reduction
Structure
The following components are integrated in the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit:
- Radar sensor
- Control unit
Properties of the radar sensor:
- Detection range of the radar sensor: Distance of 0 to 80 m with a detection angle of 30 ± 8°
- 25 GHz radar sensor according to the Pulse Doppler Principle for the independent measurement of distance and speed
The COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST controller unit must be newly adjusted after replacement (e. g. after an accident repair) using the integrated "Service Adjustment Mode".
