- Remove cover (20) under front passenger seat.
- Detach ground line (21) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side.
Insulate connecting point for ground line (21) to avoid unintended contact of detached ground line (21) with the on-board electrical system battery (G1) ground point.
- Remove engine air intake duct (2) upstream of air filter.
- Disconnect electrical connection (7) for transmission wiring harness and unclip at shield (22) for high-pressure pump.
- Remove air inlet box upper section on the right (7.1).
- Remove cover from prefuse box.
- Open cable duct on suspension strut support fastening console.
- Detach alternator/starter wiring harness (5) and electric steering wiring harness (6) on prefuse box
- Disconnect electrical connection (4) for electric steering.
- Unclip wiring harness (5, 6) on fuse box and on longitudinal member reinforcement at the front.
- Detach ground line for electric steering on longitudinal member reinforcement at the front.
- Pass wiring harnesses (5, 6) between suspension strut support mounting console and fuse box and lay on engine.
- Detach electrical connection (12) on cylinder head cover and disconnect.
- Disconnect electrical connection (8, 9) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit and place to one side.
- Disconnect electrical connections on left intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/4) and on left exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/6) or right intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/5) and on right exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/7).
- Disconnect electrical connections on left intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/4) and on left exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/6) or right intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/5) and on right exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/7).
- Disconnect electrical connections at the ignition coils (T1).
- Disconnect electrical connections to fuel injectors (Y76).
- Disconnect electrical connection at boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/1).
- Disconnect electrical connection on coolant thermostat heating element (R48) and unclip on cover at front left.
- Disconnect electrical connection at A/C compressor (A9).
- Detach ground line (24) from cylinder head cover.
- Disconnect electrical connection on fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B4/25).
- Detach engine wiring harness (21) on the rail.
: Ensure correct seating of the holding clip (23) on the rail.
- Detach guide rail (25) for engine wiring harness (21) on the cylinder head cover and the intake manifold.
- Lay engine wiring harness (21) aside.
