Routing diagram
- Starting at the black 2-pin connectors (12a, 12b), branch off gray/white lines (GY/WH) and brown lines (BN) from wiring harness contained in scope of supply.
Both branch-off lines form the wiring harnesses for the left front illuminated door sill molding and right front illuminated door sill molding.
The longer wiring harness is to be installed on the driver side.
- Extend brown line (BN) of wiring harness intended for right front illuminated door sill molding using a commercially available brown line and a potential distributor (14).
Use commercially available brown line with a length of 800 mm and a cross-section of 0 75 mm2 as well as a potential distributor (14) from
basic wiring harness repair kit or
supplementary wiring harness repair kit for passenger cars.
- Install round cable lug with Ø 6 mm (13) at brown line (BN) of wiring harness intended for right front illuminated door sill molding.
- Wrap felt tape around gray/white line (GY/WH) and brown line (BN) in each case starting at black 2-pin connector (12a, 12b).
- Connect black 2-pin plug of left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47) with black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line and thus create left front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/47x1).
Use longer wiring harness.
- Clip left front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/47x1) into bracket of cable duct as shown.
- Route gray/white line and brown line under front floor covering in rear area.
Route gray/white line and brown line between cable ducts and front floor covering. Use a pull-through device.
- Connect black 2-pin plug of right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48) with black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line and thus create right front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/48x1).
- Clip right front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/48x1) into bracket of cable duct as shown.
- Route gray/white line and brown line under front floor covering in rear area.
Route gray/white line and brown line between cable ducts and front floor covering. Use a pull-through device.
- Remove cover (4).
- Remove seat mounts (3).
- Lift rear floor covering (5).
- Connect brown line (BN) of wiring harness of left front illuminated door sill molding to left rear seat ground point (W17/1).
- Route gray/white line (GY/WH) of wiring harness of left front illuminated door sill molding as shown to rear control unit (N10/8) and fix in place using felt tape.
Use a pull-through device.
- Connect brown line (BN) of wiring harness of right front illuminated door sill molding to right rear seat ground point (W17).
- Route gray/white line (GY/WH) of wiring harness of right front illuminated door sill molding to rear control unit (N10/8) and fix in place using felt tape.
- Disconnect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) at rear control unit (N10/8).
- Remove gray contact carrier (1a) with assignment "1" to "26" from curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
- Install left contact of gray/white line of left front illuminated door sill molding in contact cavity "12" of gray contact carrier (1a) (arrow B).
- Install right contact of gray/white line of right front illuminated door sill molding in contact cavity "11" of gray contact carrier (1a) (arrow A).
- Install gray contact carrier (1a) in curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
- Connect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) at rear control unit (N10/8).
- Secure gray/white lines and brown lines using cable ties at vehicle wiring harnesses.
Strap down excess lengths of gray/white lines and brown lines.
