The sound system control unit is located beneath the front left seat.

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) 

The sound system amplifier control system is a subscriber of the MOST and receives, for example, the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) copy-protected audio signals from the following components:

• Audio unit
• TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with CODE 863 (Digital/analog TV tuner))
• TV digital tuner (A90/3) (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
• Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with CODE 537 (Digital radio))
• Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) control unit (N87/5) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio))
• Media interface control unit (N125/1) (with CODE 518 (Media interface))

Decoding signals 

• Decoding DTCP copy-protected audio signals on basis of newest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology

DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound characteristics.

Supporting and amplifying signals 

• Supporting surround sound (Logic 7)
• Supports two stereo entertainment channels and three announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions, etc.)
• Amplifying decoded audio signals

Transmitting signals 

Direct lines 

• Output of signal tones (BEEPs), digital multiple channel output and output of decoded, volume-adapted and amplified audio signals over the following speakers:
• Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
• Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
• Left front door speaker (H4/5)
• Right front door speaker (H4/6)
• Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
• Left front door tweeter (H4/33)
• Right front door tweeter (H4/34)
• Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
• Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
• Rear bass speaker (H4/38)

Function 

The sound system amplifier control unit is actuated via the audio equipment. The audio equipment also provides all of the menus for user guidance.

Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:

• Software download 

Diagnosis 

The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier control unit is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol. All other control units in MOST are also diagnosed via this interface at the same time.

Software download 

The update takes place via the DVD/CD drive of the "audio unit" using a CD or DVD.
