Standing/Parking Lights Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3060GN

Model 166

as of Model year 2016

Model 292

Function requirements, general

Standing/parking lights, general

The standing lights/parking lights actuation is used to mark the parked vehicle in poor visibility.

IMPORTANT The standing/parking lights actuation is deactivated depending on the energy status with a circuit 15R OFF status.

The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following partial functions:

Standing lamp actuation function sequence

Turning the exterior lights switch (S1) to the "Standing lights" position requests actuation of the standing lights.

The SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the exterior lights switch and activates the standing lights actuation.

On vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the SAM control unit also sends the "Standing light ON" request over the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).

At the same time, the SAM control unit sends the "Switch on standing lights indicator lamp" request over the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1), which then switches on the standing lights indicator lamp (A1e38).

IMPORTANT With a circuit 15R OFF status, the standing lights indicator lamp is deactivated after a defined period even if the function is active.

The SAM control unit actuates the following components in the left front lamp unit (E1) directly:

The SAM control unit uses the chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2) and left headlamp control unit (E1n9) to actuate the following components in the left front lamp unit:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components in the right front lamp unit (E2) directly:

The SAM control unit uses the chassis CAN 2 and right headlamp control unit (E2n9) to actuate the following components in the right front lamp unit:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:

On vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the trailer recognition control unit actuates the following components of the exterior lights on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58) :

IMPORTANT If the interior CAN is in "bus idle", the parking lights actuation is stored in all the control units involved until deactivation is requested by the SAM control unit.

Additional function requirements for lights on reminder

Function sequence for lights on reminder warning

The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the SAM control unit.

The left front door control unit (N69/1) sends the status of the driver door (open or closed) and the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the circuit 15 status over the interior CAN to the SAM control unit.

The SAM control unit receives this information, uses it to generate a request to issue the light warning function, and then sends a "Warning tone ON" and an "Instrument cluster message ON" request over the interior CAN to the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster then actuates the instrument cluster speaker (H4/61) directly. The "Switch off light" message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster.

Additional function requirements for parking lights actuation

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 over the interior CAN to the SAM control unit.

Parking lights actuation function sequence

By turning the exterior lights switch to the left parking lights position or the right parking lights position, the parking lights actuation is requested for the corresponding side of vehicle.

The SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the exterior lights switch and activates the parking lights actuation.

On vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch), the SAM control unit also sends the "Parking lights On" request via the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit.

Left parking light:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components in the left front lamp unit directly:

The SAM control unit uses the chassis CAN 2 and left headlamp control unit to actuate the following components in the left front lamp unit:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:

The trailer recognition control unit (with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch)) actuates the left taillight on the trailer via the trailer socket.

Right parking light:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components in the right front lamp unit directly:

The SAM control unit uses the chassis CAN 2 and right headlamp control unit to actuate the following components in the right front lamp unit:

The SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:

The trailer recognition control unit (with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch)) actuates the right taillight on the trailer via the trailer socket.

IMPORTANT If the interior CAN is in "bus idle", the parking lights actuation is stored in all the control units involved until deactivation is requested by the SAM control unit.
