Preparatory work

IMPORTANT The foil adheres properly to the subsurface after approx. 48 h. Up to that point, do not perform any adhesion tests or expose the bonded foils to any major stress (e.g. window cleaning).

NOTES Ensure that no fingerprints are present in the area of the bonding surface. The bonding surfaces should be free of dust, oil, grease, wax, dirt and other adhesive components or dirt residues.

Bonding must take place at subsurface and ambient temperatures of 18°C to 25°C.

To prevent adhesion problems.

  1. Prepare a water mixture with low surface tension.

NOTES Tap water, agent reducing the surface tension of the water, no concentrate, no soap or detergent containing enzymes. Mixing ratio: 3 drops of agent reducing the surface tension of the water to 1 l of water; (water hardness 15 to 18) - avoid higher concentrations.

To ensure repositioning of the adhesive foil on the windshield. To prevent loss of adhesive force.

  2. Protect the vehicle interior from fluids running down or dripping in the area of the windshield.
    1. Models 117, 156, 166, 176, 205, 217, 218, 222, 246, 253, 292, 463

IMPORTANT Do not use damaged foils.

    Preparing the adhesive foil

  4. Place the adhesive foil with the backing side (carrier) facing upward onto a level surface.
  5. Pull off the backing at an angle of 180° from the adhesive foil.

NOTES Touch on the sides only.

To prevent fingerprints on the bonding surface.

  6. Spray low surface tension water onto the adhesive foil.

IMPORTANT Avoid longer waiting times after pulling off the protective foil.

Applying the adhesive foil on the windshield IMPORTANT For proper alignment, either use an assistant who looks from the outside or a previously prepared template.

The black, dotted area of the windshield can be used to help with orientation here. Half of the last row of dots must still be visible.

Do not press down on the adhesive foil with your fingers or hands.

  7. Clean the windshield again in the previously cleaned area.
    1. Models 117, 156, 166, 172, 205, 217, 218, 222, 231, 246, 253, 292, 463
