REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove side paneling in left side of luggage compartment

2 Remove D-pillar paneling on left

3 Remove cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) and navigation module from glove compartment Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)
IMPORTANT The cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) and the navigation module are no longer required, they are to be handed over to the customer.
 
4 Remove glove compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.10-P-1400GQ
5 Remove radio (A2)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT The removed radio (A2) is no longer required. AR82.60-P-7502GQ 
6 Remove 14.7 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 166.0/8 up to model year 2016 AR82.60-P-7722GQ 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 166.0/8 as of model year 2016
IMPORTANT The 14.7 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) is no longer required.

7 Remove left cover below instrument panel

8 Detach left front seat from frame floor assembly and move towards the rear with the lines attached    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Do not detach belt end fitting. AR91.10-P-1000GQ
9 Remove multifunction antenna or multifunction antenna mockup

11 Retrofit global positioning system (GPS) antenna line Vehicles without CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or without CODE 509 (Navigation box) AN82.61-P-7474-01GQX 
12 Route GPS antenna line, which was connected to the cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) at the antenna lines slot (C) (arrow) into the slot for the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
13 Disassemble 2-pin connector of antenna lines Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
14 Strap down Traffic Message Channel (TMC) antenna line together with the remaining wiring harnesses of the cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
15 Seal openings in glove compartment Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
16 Retrofit electrical wiring harness of COMAND fan motor   AN82.85-P-0005-02GQX
17 Install COMAND fan motor

18 Install COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502GQ 
19.1 Connect GPS antenna line, which was connected at the cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) (arrow) to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
19.2 Connect white 1-pin connector of retrofitted GPS antenna line to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) Vehicles without CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or without CODE 509 (Navigation box)  
20 Install 17.8 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 166.0/8 up to model year 2016 AR82.60-P-7722GQ 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 166.0/8 as of model year 2016 AR82.60-P-7722GQC 
21 Install remaining parts    
22 Connect diagnostic system and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (FIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
23 Delete code 510 (Audio 20 CD with 6-disk CD changer) or code 523 (Audio 20 CD) and, where applicable, code 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or code 509 (Navigation box) via the Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc) in online vehicle data card    
24 Add code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) via the Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc) in online vehicle data card    
25 Document retrofitted equipment through VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach "COMAND APS (with navigation system) retrofitted, as per AN82.85-P-0003GQ" note under the field organization texts to design group 82.  
26 For the instrument cluster, perform a variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)

27 For the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with navigation), perform a variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)

28 Disconnect diagnostic system

29 Perform function test IMPORTANT See operator's manual for COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
