- Cameras
- MP3 player
- Game consoles
Media sources connected via "AUX" must always be selected manually Only then can connected video units be detected and their video signals played back.
Power and resource management
The rear display recognizes overvoltage or undervoltage and reacts with an adapted switch on and off behavior.
Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
The Human-Machine Interface enables the communication between the rear passenger or the rear passengers and the rear entertainment system by means of the infrared interfaces of the remote control and the rear display
Receive signals
- Direct lines
- CAN
- Infrared
Direct lines
The rear display receives the following signals via direct lines:
- Power supply via circuit 30g and circuit 31
- Y/C line (Y-brightness (luminance)/C-color information (chrominance)) for picture signals from the DVD player (A40/4)
- Stereo line for audio signals from the DVD player
- Analog video and audio signals from audio or video units connected via the AUX connections
CAN
The rear display is a subscriber of the telematics CAN (CAN A) and communicates with the following components:

Generation of picture signals
The rear display converts received analog picture signals into digital picture signals and displays them.
Generating radio signals
The rear display generates digital radio signals from the analog audio signals for transfer to the radio frequency headphones (H8/3) (cordless) connected via the radio interface.
Transmitting signals
- Output of audio signals
- CAN
Output of audio signals
Output of audio signals via following options:
- To headphones connected by cable via the integrated headphones connection
- To the radio frequency headphones (cordless) connected via the radio interface
The volume of the audio signals can only be adjusted via the remote control for the headphones connected by cable to the headphones connection. With the radio frequency headphones (cordless), the volume is adjusted using the volume control integrated into the radio frequency headphones.
