Backup Lamp Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3011GN

Model 166

as of Model year 2016

Model 292

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN (CAN B) to the SAM control unit (N10).

Backup light actuation, general

The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.

Function sequence for backup light actuation

Backup light actuation is activated when gear range "R" is engaged.

Gear range "R" is engaged by the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4). The fully integrated transmission control unit then sends the "Gear range R engaged" status via drive train CAN (CAN C), CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) and chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) to the electronic ignition lock control unit.

The electronic ignition lock control unit uses this to generate the "Reverse gear engaged" status and sends this over the interior CAN to the SAM control unit and to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) in vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch).

The SAM control unit then actuates the left backup light (E3/1e3) (Model 292) in the inner left rear lamp unit (E3/1) and the right backup light (E4/1e3) (Model 292) in the inner right rear lamp unit (E4/1).

The SAM control unit then actuates the left backup light (E3e3) (Model 166.0) in the left rear lamp unit (E3) and the right backup light (E4e3) (Model 166.0) in the right rear lamp unit (E4).

The trailer recognition control unit actuates the trailer backup lights via the trailer socket (X58) (without CODE 460 (Canada version) and without CODE 494 (USA version)) or via the 7-pin trailer socket (X58/11) (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version)) an.
