Manual interior lights actuation, general
The manual interior lights control is used to switch the interior illumination, the reading illumination, the mirror lamp and the glove compartment illumination on and off. The interior illumination and the reading illumination are switched on or off by operating the relevant switches located on the overhead control panel control unit. The overhead control panel control unit is a subscriber on the roof LIN. The status of each switch is read in directly by the overhead control panel control unit and sent to the SAM control unit over the roof LIN. The SAM control unit receives the corresponding status and sends the switch-on request via the roof LIN back to the overhead control panel control unit, at which point the requested function is output.
The manual interior lights control function encompasses the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for interior illumination
- Function sequence for reading illumination
- Function sequence for mirror lamp
- Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
Function sequence for interior illumination
The following components of the interior illumination can be manually switched on or off by pressing the interior lamp automatic function switch:
- Rear interior lamp (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Central load compartment dome lamp
- Left dome lamp, 2nd seat row
- Right dome lamp, 2nd seat row
- Left front interior lamp
- Right front interior lamp
The left dome lamp, 2nd seat row, the right dome lamp, 2nd seat row and the center load compartment dome lamp can also be switched on or off separately by operating the rear dome lamp switch.
In addition, the SAM control unit actuates the following components of the footwell illumination with a brightness value that corresponds to 100 %:
- Right front footwell lamp
- Left front footwell lamp
- Left rear footwell lamp (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package)) via the driver seat control unit
- Right rear footwell lamp (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package)) via the front passenger seat control unit
Function sequence for reading illumination
The reading illumination serves to illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect on the driver. The following components of the reading illumination can be manually switched on or off by pressing the corresponding switch:
- Left reading lamp over the left front reading lamp switch
- Right reading lamp over the right front reading lamp switch
- Left rear reading lamp via the left rear reading lamp switch (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
- Right rear reading lamp via the right rear reading lamp switch (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
Function sequence for mirror lamp
The following mirror lamp components can be switched on or off manually by opening or closing the respective mirror cover:
- Left sun visor mirror lamp via the left front mirror lamp switch
- Right sun visor mirror lamp over the right front mirror lamp switch
The power supply of the mirror lamp switch is switched off by folding back the sun visor or locking the vehicle via the central locking (CL)
To preserve the on-board electrical system battery (G1), the power supply is interrupted t = 30 min. following circuit 15 OFF.
Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination
- Circuit 15R ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of circuit 15 via the interior CAN to the SAM control unit.
Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
The glove compartment lamp switch is supplied with voltage by the SAM control unit. Voltage is switched through to the glove compartment lamp by opening the glove compartment door.
