Connection scheme/wiring harness specified status, shown on left-hand drive vehicle 

The following operation steps describe installation in a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

1. Pry out stop plugs (1c) from left and right longitudinal member.
2. Route driver side wiring harness (19a) from outside to inside via opening in left longitudinal member and through left B-pillar into vehicle interior.

   Use a pull-through device.

3. Install stop plug of driver side wiring harness (19a).
4. Route driver side wiring harness (19a) along cable ducts and vehicle wiring harnesses under floor covering to driver footwell and fix in place with cable ties.

5. Route passenger side wiring harness (19b) from outside to inside via opening in right longitudinal member and through right B-pillar into front passenger footwell.

   Use a pull-through device.

6. Install stop plug of passenger side wiring harness (19b).
7. Route passenger side wiring harness (19b) along cable ducts and vehicle wiring harnesses under floor covering to front passenger footwell and fix in place with cable ties.

8. Connect brown line (3a) of driver side wiring harness (19a) to left footwell ground point (W15/2) .
9. Route gray line (2a) along vehicle wiring harnesses to SAM control unit (N10) and fix in place with cable ties.
10. Attach round cable lug with Ø 6 mm to brown line (3b).

    The crimper is included in the basic wiring harness repair kit and the passenger car supplementary wiring harness repair kit.

11. Connect brown line (3b) of passenger side wiring harness (19b) to right footwell ground point (W15/1) .
12. Route gray/black line (2b) along vehicle wiring harnesses to SAM control unit (N10) and fix in place with cable ties.

13. Detach black 48-pin connector (15) from SAM control unit (N10).
14. Remove gray 24-pin contact carrier (15a) from black 48-pin connector (15).
15. Install gray line (2a) in contact cavity 38  of gray 24-pin contact carrier (15a).
16. Install gray/black line (2b) in contact cavity 48  of gray 24-pin contact carrier (15a).
17. Install gray 24-pin contact carrier (15a) into black 48-pin connector (15).
18. Attach black 48-pin connector (15) to SAM control unit (N10).
19. Strap down excess lengths of all electrical lines.
