(Component Description For Rear Display Left/Right - GF82.90-P-4020GR)

MODEL 166 up to model year 2016 with CODE 864 (Rear entertainment system) 

Location 

The left rear display is located on the left front seat behind the head restraint.

The right rear display is located on the right front seat behind the head restraint.

IMPORTANT The two displays are identical The pin assignment (cf connector A pin 5) in document "Left/right rear display pin/connector assignment") is used to differentiate between the left and right rear displays. The left rear display is connected to terminal 31.

Tasks 

Visualization of all user-relevant information in rear entertainment system 

Use of all audio equipment or video units connected to the rear display 

Use also includes the management of the connected devices as well as detection of any connected video units The following audio equipment or video units can be connected via the AUX jack for example:

IMPORTANT Media sources connected via "AUX" must always be selected manually Only then can connected video units be detected and their video signals played back

Power and resource management 

Detection of overvoltage/undervoltage combined with appropriate switch on/off behavior

Man Machine Interface (MMI) 

Enables the communication between the rear passenger or the rear passengers and the rear entertainment system by means of the infrared (IR) interfaces of the remote control and the rear display.

Receive signals 

Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) 

The rear display is a subscriber of the telematics CAN (CAN A) It communicates with the following components:

Direct lines 

Generation of picture signals 

Generation of digital picture signals from the analog picture signals to be shown on the rear display.

Generating radio signals 

Generation of digital radio signals from analog audio signals for transmission to headphones (cordless) connected via the two-way radio interface

Transmitting signals 

Direct lines 

CAN 

The rear display is a subscriber of the telematics CAN. It communicates with the following components:

IMPORTANT The volume of the audio signals can only be adjusted via the remote control for the headphones connected by cable to the headphone socket. For the headphones (cordless) connected via the IR or radio interface, the volume of the audio signals is adjusted via the volume control integrated in the IR headphones.

Body 

An amplifier for the integrated headphone socket (3.5 mm) is integrated into the rear display.
