Function

Data exchange between the Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit and the toll station takes place via the DSRC antenna. To do so, the Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit requires an ETC/Hi-Pass card on which user data is stored. The Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit also stores evidence that fees have already been paid onto the ETC/Hi-Pass card. The Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit forwards ETC/Hi-Pass messages to the media display and to the speaker system (only Japan) via multimedia system control. In Korea, the speaker output takes place via the speaker integrated into the Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit.

Forwarding can occur in the following cases:

In addition, the LED on the Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit flashes red depending on the ETC/Hi-Pass message. The Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit is in the glove compartment. The DSRC antenna is located behind the windshield in the center on the instrument panel.

IMPORTANT The Dedicated Short-Range Communications control unit is not fitted ex factory, but is retrofitted in the corresponding countries before delivery. The antenna and the wiring harness are installed ex factory.
