Spray Nozzle And Spray Nozzle Hose Heater, Function - GF82.35-P-3007GR
MODEL 166 up to model year 2016
with CODE 875 (Heated windscreen washer system)
Function requirements, general
- "Engine running" or "drive train operational" signal on
- Outside temperature T < 5 °C
The CDI control unit (N3/9) (diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (gasoline engine) transmits the "Engine running" or "Drivetrain operational" signal via chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1), the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the interior CAN (CAN B) to the SAM control unit.
The outside temperature is detected by the outside temperature sensor (B14). The SAM control unit directly reads in the outside temperature sensor signals, calculates the actual outside temperature and transmits the data to the instrument cluster (A1) over the interior CAN (CAN B). The instrument cluster calculates the outside temperature to be displayed, taking the vehicle speed and the heat given off by the engine into consideration, and sends this via interior CAN to the SAM control unit.
Spray nozzle heater/spray nozzle hose heater, general
The spray nozzle heater/spray nozzle hose heater prevents the washer fluid in the spray nozzles and in the spray nozzle hose from freezing.
Function sequence for spray nozzle heater/spray nozzle hose heater
The SAM control unit (N10) switches on the spray nozzle hose heater (R2/11) with the engine running and at an outside temperature of T < 5 °C.
The SAM control unit evaluates all relevant data and actuates the spray nozzle hose heater accordingly.
The heat given off by the engine is calculated using the coolant temperature. The coolant temperature is recorded by the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4). The CDI control unit or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit reads in the signal of the coolant temperature sensor, uses this to calculate the coolant temperature and sends the corresponding value via chassis CAN 1, electronic ignition lock control unit and chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2) to the instrument cluster.
If the outside temperature rises to T > 8 °C, the spray nozzle hose heater is switched off.
If the SAM control unit cannot receive an outside temperature value from the instrument cluster, it calculates the outside temperature itself.
