General 

The rear fog light marks the rear area of the vehicle in poor weather conditions and warns the following traffic. The rear fog light is operated via the rear fog light button on the exterior lighting switch.

Function requirement 

• Low beam ON

Actuate rear fog light 

The central controller unit (control unit of the exterior lighting) actuates the rear fog light on the vehicle itself or requests the actuation depending on the network architecture of the vehicle.

Vehicles with trailer hitch 

The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation. Instead, the rear fog light on the trailer is actuated. The central controller unit requests the actuation of the rear fog light on the trailer. The trailer recognition control unit implements this request.
