  1. Attach pedal force meter to brake pedal.

    For brake test on brake test stand as per EU Directive 2010/48/EU for vehicles with initial registration as of 28.07.2010

    IMPORTANT A pedal force meter is required for the test.

    The following tolerances are specified for a pedal force meter that is not approved by Mercedes-Benz: 0 N to 100 N: ± 2 N absolute value 100 N up to measuring range end value ± 2 % relative to measurement value

  2. Move vehicle with front axle onto roller brake test stand.
  3. Move automatic transmission to selector lever position "N" or shift manual transmission to neutral.
  4. Perform measurement of brake forces at front axle.

    The drive train and brake system can otherwise be damaged.

    IMPORTANT For brake test on brake test stand as per EU Directive 2010/48/EU for vehicles with initial registration as of 28.07.2010, the pedal force must lie in the specified range.

    IMPORTANT Press brake pedal uniformly. Document maximum value before wheels lock.

  5. Move rear axle of vehicle into roller brake test stand.
  6. Move automatic transmission to selector lever position "N" or shift manual transmission to neutral.

  1. 8.1 Vehicles with mechanically actuated parking brake. Determine and document braking response, brake values and actuating travel of parking brake.

    IMPORTANT Operate parking brake uniformly. Document maximum values before wheels lock.

  2. 8.2 Vehicles with electrically-operated parking brake Determine and document braking characteristics and brake values for electric parking brake.

    NOTES Before operating the electric parking brake, the rear axle wheels must be driven at least 10 s by the roller brake test stand. Thus the brake shoes are then applied slowly.

    Otherwise damage may occur.

    NOTES Briefly press switch of electric parking brake once, do not hold.

    Otherwise damage will occur.

    IMPORTANT The electric parking brake brakes briefly and then changes to the roller brake test stand mode.

    After 2 to 5 s press the switch of the electric parking brake again briefly, the electric parking brake brakes with greater brake power.

    If necessary, after 2 to 5 s briefly press the switch of the electric parking brake a 3rd and a 4th time until the wheels lock up.

    IMPORTANT Document maximum value before wheels lock.

  3. Release parking brake and drive vehicle out of roller brake test stand.
  4. Calculate the increase at front axle and at rear axle with the determined values, then calculate the total increase and calculate the brake force shares at front axle and rear axle. Model 164.1/8, 251.0/1
