Move Rear Axle Brake Pads To Assembly Position - AR42.10-P-1700-02W

Move to assembly position (via the workshop menu in the instrument cluster)

  1. Turn ignition lock to position "15R".

    IMPORTANT The "Trip" menu item must show the trip and kilometer reading.

  2. Close hood.

    If the multifunction display (1) shows the message "Engine hood open".

  3. Release parking brake.
  4. First press the "Accept phone call" button (6) and hold it down, then within 1 s also press the "OK" button (3) and hold it down.

    IMPORTANT After approx. 5 s, the multifunction display (1) shows the Workshop menu with the tabs "Vehicle data", "Dynamometer test", "Brakepad replacement" and "ASSYST PLUS".

  5. Press button (4) repeatedly until "Brake pad replacement" is highlighted, and confirm selection with "OK" button (3).

    IMPORTANT The multifunction display (1) then shows "Move to assembly position".

  6. Confirm with "OK" button (3).

    NOTES Do not depress the service brake during "Move to assembly position".

    Otherwise, the spindle in the brake caliper can be damaged.

    IMPORTANT The multifunction display (1) then shows "Assembly position reached".

  7. Switch off ignition.

    IMPORTANT This prevents the assembly position from being exited unintentionally.

    Exit assembly position (via the workshop menu in the instrument cluster) 

    NOTES Leave the assembly position only with the brake pads fitted and the brake caliper installed.

    Otherwise the brake piston will be pushed out of the brake caliper.

  8. Turn ignition lock to position "15R".

    IMPORTANT The multifunction display (1) then shows "Assembly position reached/Exit assembly position".

  9. Confirm with "OK" button (3).

    IMPORTANT "Exiting assembly position" is shown in the multifunction display (1) for the duration of the assembly position exit. When the process has finished, the "Assembly position exited" indicator appears in the multifunction display (1).

  10. Confirm with "OK" button (3).

    IMPORTANT The multifunction display (1) shows the workshop menu with the "Vehicle data", "Dynamometer test", "Change brake lining" and "ASSYST PLUS" tabs.

  11. Exit workshop menu with "Back" button (2).
  12. Switch off ignition.
