  1. Starting at the black 2-pin connectors (12a, 12b), branch off gray/white lines (GY/WH) and brown lines (BN) from wiring harness contained in scope of supply.

    IMPORTANT Both branch-off lines form the wiring harnesses for the left front illuminated door sill molding and right front illuminated door sill molding.

    The longer wiring harness is to be installed on the driver side.

  2. Remove existing round cable lugs at brown lines (BN).

    IMPORTANT The round cable lugs are no longer required.

  3. Extend each of the brown lines (BN) with a commercially available brown line and a potential distributor (14).

    IMPORTANT Use commercially available brown lines with a length of 2000 mm and a cross-section of 0.75 mm2 . Use potential distributor (14) from SPECIAL TOOL basic wiring harness repair kit or SPECIAL TOOL supplementary wiring harness repair kit for passenger cars.

  4. Wrap felt tape around each of the gray/white lines (GY/WH) and brown lines (BN) to a length of 2100 mm starting at black 2-pin connectors (12a, 12b).

  5. Connect black 2-pin plug of left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47) with black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line and thus create left front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/47x1).

    IMPORTANT Install longer wiring harness.

  6. Clip left front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/47x1) into bracket of cable duct as shown.
  7. Route gray/white line and brown line at left under left floor covering in rear area.

    IMPORTANT Route gray/white line and brown line between cable ducts and left floor covering. Use a pull-through device.

  8. Connect black 2-pin plug of right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48) with black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line and thus create right front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/48x1).
  9. Clip right front illuminated door sill molding electrical connector (E17/48x1) into bracket of cable duct as shown.
  10. Route gray/white line and brown line at right under right floor covering in rear area.

    IMPORTANT Route gray/white line and brown line between cable ducts and right floor covering. Use pull-through device.

  11. Lift rear floor covering.
  12. Route both gray/white lines (GY/WH) to rear control unit (N10/8) and fix in place using felt tape.
  13. In each case, install a round cable lug ø 6 mm at brown lines (BN).
  14. Route both brown lines (BN) to right rear seat ground point (W17) and fix in place using felt tape.
  15. Connect both brown lines (BN) at right rear seat ground point (W17).

  16. Disconnect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) at rear control unit (N10/8).
  17. Remove gray contact carrier (1a) with assignment "1" to "26" from curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
  18. Install left contact of gray/white line of left front illuminated door sill molding in contact cavity "12" of gray contact carrier (1a) (arrow B).
  19. Install right contact of gray/white line of right front illuminated door sill molding in contact cavity "11" of gray contact carrier (1 a) (arrow A).
  20. Install gray contact carrier (1a) in curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
  21. Connect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) at rear control unit (N10/8).
  22. Secure gray/white lines and brown lines using cable ties at vehicle wiring harnesses.

    IMPORTANT Strap down excess lengths of gray/white lines and brown lines.
