Location
The boost pressure control flap actuator is directly located on the exhaust gas turbocharger.
Task
The boost pressure control flap actuator regulates the exhaust gas turbocharger boost pressure.
Structure
A DC motor, an induction-type sensor and an actuator housing are accommodated in the housing of the boost pressure control flap actuator.
Function
Boost pressure control is implemented by means of a continuous adjustment (adjustment angle of between 0 and 109°) of the boost pressure control flap. In exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, the guide vanes are adjusted via the boost pressure regulator. The boost pressure control flap actuator as well as the boost pressure regulator are actuated via the combustion engine control unit by means of a pulse width modulated signal. The positioning travel of the actuator motor is determined via an integrated, inductive sensor.
